Here we are again and its going to be a bit of this and a bit of that for this round up.  So, keep up with me if you can and if not, then just take your time as you digest what is or has been happening around the lowcountry! :D  As I write this, my other half is listening to a podcast from the Wall Street…

If you’re into Genealogy – check out Babbie’s blog – The Past Is Not Over and also our very own Heidi’s own family history blog.

Fostering is a hard job as what the Potter’s Family has written.

There is a conference held in Beaufort – Federation of Republican Women convention this coming weekend.

Sabrina is finally All Packed and Ready To Go – as she goes on this cold wintry adventure, go drop by her blog and send her some encouragement as she braves out the Northern cold weather! :) Maybe send some warm weather while she is there!

For those foodies out there – check out this CoCoa Poundcake.

And a sad news that Gourmet magazine will stop publishing and the last issue will be November.

There are a few of us just don’t know where a part of the steak we buy, as to what part of the cow?  Well, of course, Home Ec-101 comes to the rescue with this Q: Blade Steak: What is it and What to do with it?

Did any of you know that today is – Happy Blog Action Day?

10/13 Cinnamon, Spice, and everything nice..

Apple Pancakes

that’s what these LowCountry Blogz are made of..

Fall is “turn back on your oven season.”

I’m not quite ready to give up the peachy scenes of summer, but I am ready for cooler weather..

A Yankee in a Southern Kitchen’s Peach Pound Cake still puts a smile on my face.

I, confess, I’ve never tasted Quince, that I’m aware of…  I’ve read about it, in literature.  I was thankful to see the picture.  I think I’ve seen them, in the store.  Helen, of Tartlette, shared Spiced Quince Crumbles, in mini iron skillets!

Bring on apples and pumpkin.. and we are delighted to find:

Adding to the lovely baked aroma’s, of fall:

Heather shared Cinnamon Rolls and Versatile Blueberry Muffins (Streusel is not optional.  Streusel is Love Crumbs.)

Denise, of Uniquely Tea, offers Autumn Tea Butter, for scones, biscuits, or toast.

I’m off to the kitchen, now, to experiment play with peaches and love crumbs. :)

10/11 Midnight blog wandering

It’s late on Sunday night (well, Monday morning now), have work tomorrow and what am I doing? My brain that doesn’t feel like going to sleep has decided to go wander the blogs for a bit.

Today is Columbus day (or if you’re Canadian like me, Thanksgiving…look out turkeys!). It’s a little bit of Columbus controversy from Jeane.

Joan shares a specimen of the wildlife in downtown Charleston.

Flu vaccine education from SophiaZoe

When one has an Airstream trailer, there are apparently many things to take note of.

Patrick laments about how lazy the Internets have made people.

I never cease to be amazed by the level of laziness the internet has caused, especially among younger folks who’ve pretty much always had access to it.

Hand them a phone book, or walk them into a library with an increasingly-rare card catalog and you would think you’ve taken their entire life away.

Google Wave has hit Charleston. Karen shares her impressions of Google Wave. I’ve used it a little bit and think it’s pretty cool. I just haven’t found much yet to do with it yet.

Ok, my brain is starting to get a little sleep-addled now. Time to call it a night I think.

10/06 Touring

A chance encounter has changed Wendy’s outlook:

The night after that happened I made a decision that I would never make anyone feel the way that woman made me feel. I made a conscious decision to live Joyfully. That decision has had a profound impact on my life. I feel like I have been liberated from stress.

Time for another giveaway over at Home-Ec 101! This time it’s a copy of The Taste of Home Cookbook, Cooks who Care Edition.

Ok, seriously, I thought the mosquitos and palmetto bugs were big around here. WTH is this thing?

Look how big it is compared to the cell phone! We are not sure what it is, but he found it in someone yard while he was working and decided to bring it home to us. (so much for flowers….sweet, huh?) So, he took pictures of it & then let it go in the yard. Im hoping to never see it again!

According to ParkWestPalooza, the FTC is getting ready to revise rules regarding endorsements and testimonials to catch up with blogging and social media.

The F.T.C. said that beginning on Dec. 1, bloggers who review products must disclose any connection with advertisers, including, in most cases, the receipt of free products and whether or not they were paid in any way by advertisers, as occurs frequently. The new rules also take aim at celebrities, who will now need to disclose any ties to companies, should they promote products on a talk show or on Twitter. A second major change, which was not aimed specifically at bloggers or social media, was to eliminate the ability of advertisers to gush about results that differ from what is typical – for instance, from a weight loss supplement.

Nikki highlights some changes that CARTA is bringing.

After having caught a lot of negative feedback from local residents, CARTA has been making headlines lately in a good way. Their newest adventure is the proposed North Charleston Regional Intermodal Center which will expand existing services and could potentially serve as a one stop shop for Amtrak, Greyhound, local buses, and even light rail! If you have thoughts on this project, CARTA will be hosting a public information meeting regarding the proposed Center at the North Charleston City Hall, 3rd Floor Buist Room, 2500 City Hall Lane, N. Charleston, SC on Thursday, 10/08/09 from 6PM to 8PM. My first suggestion… pick a sexier name.

09/30 Wise Words around the LowCountry

Dave Moulten:

You choose happiness; in simple terms, choose to be happy. You can do that whatever your circumstances; there is always someone worse off than you are.

Christopher Donahue:

If the Mayans were so smart, they’d still be alive.

Syd:

I think that the biggest help to me has been keeping my emotions in balance and not being afraid to ask for what I need. By getting more in touch with what I feel, the good and the bad, I have gotten in touch with what I need in a relationship with others. It just feels much better to do that than to vent and complain.

Shawn Wood:

Half of the battle of creativity is drilling down to the simple.  Sometimes I find that some projects are just too complex. There are times when I just cannot seem to get my brain wrapped around all of the details?  Have you ever been there?

Nikki Harden:

I stand in the dark front yard and admire the lighted windows from the outside, the way I’ve often done passing by strangers’ houses in the night. But this time, they shine for me.

DLibbon:

So here’s to another season of listening, pausing, and recording. I think i’ll kick it off with a simple commitment to journal once a day for the next seven days. That might mean the blog is quiet. Fear not my heart will be busy writing.

Youthinthecorner:

There is nothing wrong with messing up. However, it is leadership negligence to ignore or fail to learn from it. .

Matt J McDonald:

But there are always exceptions to the rules, especially when a great opportunity comes up.

Best of luck, to all of you, LowCountry Bloggers, in your passions and pursuits!  Thank you for blessing us with your words of wisdom.
