Post Debate Round Up

Topical posts will be added throughout the day.

Syd:

I’ll be tuned in to the debate tonight. I want to see what each candidate has to say. I want to make an informed decision. Tonight I don’t feel powerless but empowered to watch and listen to what candidates for the presidency of this nation have to say. I hope that I won’t be disappointed because I do have some expectations.

JanetLee explained why she skipped the debate:

It doesn’t really matter whether they are right or not. Your brain will be soothed by ideas that it is familiar with and irritated by ideas that it is not.

So why should I spend a couple of hours tormenting my poor brain. It has got its own problems.

Watching a debate when you’ve already made up your mind who you will vote for is pointless because it is very unlikely that your brain will suddenly do a 180 and head off (hahaha) in the opposite direction.

Xark:

There’s been a lot of discussion of body language and composure. Snap-polling among indies suggests Obama won.  But if you look at last night’s debate through the comfort-food filter, then I think McCain won.

Elonkey:

I mean, let’s face it, even the most open-minded and moderate among us have a bias. So I’ll save you my “in-depth analysis” of what admittedly was a bit of a snoozer debate anyway. Besides, it’s not really about the debate itself, but how effectively each campaign spins their candidate’s performance to those so-called “undecided voters” in the days following the showdown.
