Pumpkins and the Media
What do pumpkins have to do with the Media? Well, nothing really, except that both of them turned up in the blogroll
First, Halloween is approaching, and there are some really creative pumpkins out there:
Heather and Copper send us a picture of a Domo-Pumpkin!
Phillip and his children put together an awesome Disney themed pumpkin:
There is much being said these days about how the internet as a medium is changing the news business. Lyn of New World PR put together a great article on how local news is being delievered online:
TheDigitel, a site that is local to Charleston, and produces its own content, as well as highlighting the best of news from other sources across the area. They describe themselves as “a Web outlet that ‘gets it,’ [that] provides the Web integration and savviness that is demanded by young adults who grew up during the Internet revolution.”
Could the state of traditional news online be bad enough that we’ll see another bailout?
There are also several newcomers to the Social Media scene. British Airways has created a New York – London social network. Closer to home, a new social network has been created for the Charleston Alternative Energy Scene:
In addition to this amazing new resource, the actual meetups themselves have gone high tech. You can now enjoy the alternative energy goodness from the comfort of your own home, using the online service GoToMeeting. The next web event is November 19 at 6:45 p.m., and will feature a discussion on geothermal energy.
